In a troubled world where there exist more chances for military
confrontations and reproduction of terrorism: individual; group;
and state, and where there recur such justifications as
extremism, and clash-of-civilizations, The Hashemite University
-under the patronage of HE Prime Minister Dr. Marouf Bakhit-
holds its international conference on: Amman Message in the Eyes
of Others: Dialogue, Moderation, Humanity, during the period
September 20-21, 2006.
Participants include prominent researchers, academics,
intellectuals, politicians, and media persona from allover the
globe, including Jordanians. Following the conference sessions,
distinguished Jordanian University students will take part in a
special seminar pertinent to the themes of the conference,
chaired by HE president of The Hashemite University, Professor
Omar Shdeifat, and attended by guest scholars.
The conference stems from the belief that universities play a
significant role in promoting societal and scientific
scholarships nationally and internationally. Universities can
offer opportunities for both academics and students to
circumvent some issues that drastically affect daily life, and
enable them to exchange views with the other.
The theme of the conference is an extension to a former national
conference titled “The Role of Jordanian University students
in popularizing Amman Message”. This conference is considered a
model instrument recommended for implementing the Message
launched by HM King Abdulla II on December, 2004, and voiced
unanimously by one hundred and seventy leading authorities from
allover the world, representing the eight Islamic creeds.
In
their conference held in Amman on September 5, 2005, the
conferees confirmed the Message text that stresses tolerance and
moderation in Islam, and denounces Takfeer, blood-shed, robbery,
murder, and all that may spread horror or damage civilian
welfare.
